WAHPETON, N.D.-A Jordan Thomson touchdown pass reception and a Nuke Crowell TD run highlighted an explosive third quarter but the Central Lakes College Raiders fell 20-14 in overtime to North Dakota State College of Science in a non-division game Saturday, Sept. 8.

The teams played a scoreless first half, but the third quarter was filled with scoring.

The Wildcats started the scoring on a 7-yard run, but the Raiders responded one minute later on a 48-yard connection from Franklin to Thompson.

Kingston Myles of NDSCS returned the ensuing kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown to put the Wildcats up 14-6. Nuke Crowell finished the scoring for the Raiders with a 4-yard run to tie the score at 14.

Neither team scored in the fourth quarter, and the game went to overtime where Myles won the game for NDSCS on a 5-yard run.

The Raiders outgained the Wildcats by 100 yards on offense. Crowell led CLC in rushing with 73 yards on 14 carries. Franklin threw for 171 yards, and Jacob Harvey led the team in receiving with four catches for 51 yards.

Marnez Trotter tallied an interception, and the Raiders held NDSCS to just 20 passing yards, and 174 total yards.

The Raiders travel to Vermilion next Saturday to begin the Eastern Division portion of their schedule.

"It was a tough loss as we played into overtime only to fall short," said CLC coach Greg Medeck. "We saw plenty of growth since last week. We just need to finish. We're optimistic as we move forward in preparation for Vermilion. We have a great group of coachable young men. They are showing improvement and are ready to embrace the next challenge."
