Aberdeen: Derek McInnes committed to club despite Rangers speculation

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes insists his future lies at Pittodrie and he wants an end to speculation.

Dons chairman Stewart Milne said on Thursday that McInnes had assured him he would be going nowhere.

"I had a good chat with the chairman and I reiterate what he said," McInnes said. "I'm happy here, I said that all along. This is where I see myself."

Former Rangers midfielder McInnes took over at Aberdeen in 2013 following spells in charge of Bristol City and St Johnstone.

He has led the Dons to three successive second-place finishes behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, and they were also runners-up to the Glasgow side in the Scottish Cup and League Cup finals last season.

'Enough is enough'

His success at Pittodrie - McInnes also led them to a League Cup victory in 2014, their first trophy in 19 years - has also seen him touted as a candidate to replace Gordon Strachan as Scotland boss, and for the vacant West Bromwich Albion position.

"I can't do anything about speculation," he added. "I don't feel the need to comment on speculation.

"I feel nobody asked me really about West Brom. I got asked one question about Scotland a month ago, I answered that and nobody has asked me that again.

"The Celtic manager [Brendan Rodgers] doesn't get asked about the Everton job or anything else. This is purely driven by rumour and speculation, and enough is enough.

"We work for Aberdeen here, and we get on with Aberdeen's business.

"I feel it is important that we move on. That is why I totally endorse what the chairman says, and am very happy to reiterate what he said.

"I think everybody gets a bit exasperated and I think it is wrong for us to be continually speaking about another club's situation.

"If people want to ask me about it, I think they should get themselves down to that club [Rangers] and ask the questions there.

"Stop asking the people at Aberdeen - the manager, the players, - about speculation."
