California Murder Suspect Arrested In Pflugerville (Updated)

The man is wanted for a murder in California, the sheriff's office in Los Angeles County said.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — A man wanted for a California murder was taken into custody in Pflugerville after an hours-long standoff Saturday.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Kevin Darnell Dickson, 55, of Lynwood, Calif. is wanted for the stabbing death of ex-girlfriend Patricia Harrison, 50. After being tracked down in Pflugerville, the suspect barricaded himself in a home along the 14500 block of Harris Ridge Boulevard before giving himself up, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

According to the LASD, Harrison was stabbed multiple times and killed on April 18. Ahead of his arrest, officials said Dickson was believed to be suicidal and should be considered armed and dangerous. He was arrested after a brief struggle following the prolonged standoff.

The Daily Breeze reported that Dickson was accused of stabbing Harrison in a church parking lot in Los Angeles. When police arrived, they found Harrison suffering from multiple stab wounds while she lay on the parking lot. She was later pronounced dead after being hospitalized, the Daily Breeze reported.

"Suspect Dickson refused to surrender himself to U.S. Marshals and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office,” Deputy Charles Moore told reporters in updating on the Pflugerville standoff. “Instead, he barricaded himself inside a home believed to belong to his ex-wife.”

A special weapons team eventually made entry into the home and took him into custody by early Saturday afternoon, according to reports. There were no other occupants in the home at the time of the standoff, and no injuries were reported, Moore told reporters: “The homeowner, who was not home during the incident, has been cooperative with the investigation and appears to have no knowledge suspect Dickson was wanted for murder in California,” he said.
