OBERLIN, Ohio -- Apple’s vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives will give Oberlin College’s commencement speech May 27.
Lisa Jackson, formerly an administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency, is in charge of Apple’s sustainability and education initiatives. She reports directly to Apple CEO Tim Cook. Cook is set to give Stanford’s commencement speech this year.
Apple, one of the largest technology companies in the world, often uses sustainability in its marketing strategies. This month, the company announced it is expanding its hardware recycling programs around the world and shared more details about its iPhone-disassembling robot, Daisy.
Climate change and sustainability are major talking points among Democratic candidates in the 2020 election.
Jackson graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and a master’s degree from Princeton.
She will receive an honorary doctor of humanities degree from Oberlin.
