SHAKESPEARE Schools Foundation is proud to present its annual drama festival, coming to Cardigan’s Theatr Mwldan on Tuesday, November 7 at 7pm.

Join an exhilarating evening of theatre, with a series of unique Shakespeare productions staged by our local schools. In the celebratory finale of their festival journey, 30,000 young people from primary, secondary and special schools will unite for thrilling performance evenings nationwide.

This year Ysgol Bro Gwaun will be performing Othello, Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron will be performing Macbeth and Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi will be performing Henry V.

The Shakespeare Schools Foundation has worked with 280,000 young people since their charity was founded in 2000.

The festival, their flagship project, has become the world’s largest youth drama project. They work with pupils from every community, background and school type across the UK.

Months of preparation culminate in exhilarating performance evenings; young people playing Shakespeare in professional theatres, raising aspirations and unlocking the potential of students and teachers alike.

The Foundation uses the unique power of performance to develop self-esteem, articulacy, literacy and teamwork; skills that transform lives. In autumn 2017, a new generation will discover that by performing Shakespeare on a professional stage, they can gain the confidence to aspire and achieve in any walks of life.

The 17th Shakespeare Schools Festival runs until December 8. With 292 performances from Penzance to Falkirk, Barnsley to Belfast, from inner-cities to seaside towns, it promises to be the most exciting festival yet.

Tickets for Shakespeare Schools Festival are £9.50, £7 for concessions and are available now from Theatr Mwldan’s box office on 01239 621200, online at www.mwldan.co.uk or via the new Mwldan app.
