Mel Gibson's 93-Year-Old Dad Files for Divorce: Report

TMZ is reporting that Mel Gibson's elderly father has filed for divorce from his wife, Teddy Joye Gibson.

The actor's dad, 93-year-old Hutton Gibson, cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for his split from Teddy Joye, who is in her 70s, but early Tuesday morning, the gossip site said elder abuse is at the center of the situation:  Joye was allegedly withholding medicine Gibson's extremely ill father needs, believing the meds are "prolonging his suffering," TMZ reports. Because of this, the actor-director has reportedly taken over the caregiving for his ailing dad.

The couple married in 2002. Hutton Gibson is seeking spousal support and also wants his soon-to-be ex to cough up for attorney's fees.

Hutton had 11 children with his first wife, the late Anne Reilly, and has more than 50 grandchildren. Hutton and Teddy Joye did not have any children together.
