Speaking with the enemy: 4 questions with Patriots Wire

It is time once again to go behind enemy lines and get some inside info about this week’s Pittsburgh Steelers opponent. This time around it is the New England Patriots and we all understand how high the stakes are this week. We reached out to the folks at Patriots Wire and wanted to find out what is going on from a Patriots point of view about this week’s game.

What went wrong last week?

The Dolphins were able to generate pressure without blitzing Tom Brady. That meant they could force Brady to pass into a fully stocked secondary of Dolphins defensive backs, who just so happened to play an excellent game. Xavien Howard, in particular, made a great over-the-shoulder catch on his second interception.

The Patriots also inexplicably abandoned the run, as they rushed just twice in the second half. New England’s secondary wasn’t as locked down as they were in the first game. And the Patriots’ depleted front-seven looked, frankly, untalented. They need defensive end Trey Flowers and linebacker Kyle Van Noy to return from injury.
