TWO men were killed during a shooting incident in KwaNobuhle, Uitenhage on Monday afternoon.
Bongani Makiva (30) was gunned down by unknown gunmen as he walked out of his house. His 18-year-old neighbour, Mthunzi Haas, was also hit during the shooting.
According to a witness, the incident looked like a scene from a movie. The witness said a bakkie had earlier driven past Bongani’s home and then made a U-turn.
“I noticed the occupants. Minutes later we saw a small car driving past very slowly.
“A gunman emerged from the car and opened fire at Bongani, who was coming out of his house,” said the witness.
She said the shooter had pulled the trigger again, aiming at Bongane. He missed and sadly Mthunzi, who was coming out of his home next door, was hit.
“The hitman then chased after Bongani. He fell and the man shot him while on the ground. I think Bongani was hit three or four times. We rushed to him to ask who the men were but he just took his last breath.”
Mthunzi was rushed to hospital, where he also died.
Mthunzi’s uncle, Msokoli Haas (45), said his nephew was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Police spokeswoman Captain Gerda Swart said: “At this moment the motive is unknown.
She said anyone with information is requested to contact investigating officer Detective-Warrant Officer Deon Arnolds on 082 319 9223 or 083 336 1086.”
