Texas woman clings to moving car of puppy thieves for 10 minutes

HOUSTON, Texas — A worker at pet shop went above and beyond in trying to prevent the theft of a puppy valued at $10,000.

Video shows Alize James clinging to the hood of the car for nearly 10 minutes, even at high speeds on a highway, as she tried to stop the theft of an exotic bully puppy.

“I just love all types of animals,” James tells KPRC Channel 2. “My mind is focused on (the puppy’s) health. I obviously didn’t care about my well-being.”

The incident occurred in November, reports say. NBC News reports James was working at the pet shop Bully Kamp in Houston when a couple inquired about purchasing the puppy, a 7-month-old bully. KPRC says James walked away for a moment to get paperwork when the couple grabbed the puppy and left the store.

James ran outside and saw the couple getting into a car with the puppy. The Houston Chronicle reports one of the thieves hit James with the door of the car as she tried to stop them. Reports say the car accelerated toward James and she ended up on the hood of the car as it sped off.

“They were weaving, driving recklessly and I could barely hold on. I was so scared,” James tells KPRC.

James held on for about 10 minutes before the car finally came to a stop. NBC News reports a male passenger got out of the car, punched James and threw her off the vehicle before speeding off.

Last week, police in Houston arrested one of the suspects, Royshana King, 21. She has been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. A male suspect remains at-large.

It’s unclear where the dog is, reports say.
