LUNENBURG — The town plans to file a property loss claim for Town Hall’s missing weather vane.

Once the Historical Commission recommends a company and a cost to work on the replacement, the town can move forward with submitting a claim with its insurance company, Town Manager Heather Lemieux wrote in a post on the town’s Facebook page Monday.

The commission has been discussing the vane at its past few meetings.

Lemieux’s office reached out to the Historical Commission in July to help find a replacement weather vane.

At a Board of Selectmen meeting in August, Lemieux said the vane was last seen on top of a large safe in the basement of Town Hall in the spring.

She refuted previous accounts that the vane was at the Department of Public Works Building or at the Fire Department.
