RACINE COUNTY — The Sunburst Toastmasters Club of Mount Pleasant announced multiple accomplishments achieved at the organization’s July 14 meeting.
The new officers for the 2016-2017 year were inducted by area director, Chris Parker. The appointments include: Ron Morishita, president; Michele Jones, vice president of education; Patty Blakesley, vice president of membership; Sheri Johnson, vice president of public relations and club coach; Jonathan Nelson, treasurer; Ken Stenzel, secretary; and Jim Martin, sergeant at arms.
Nelson earned his Competent Communicator Award which is the first major communication award. This award requires the completion of 10 speeches with each focusing on a specific area, such as organizing speech and using body language.
Morishita earned his Advanced Communicator Bronze Award which is the second major communication award. This award requires the achievement of the Competent Communicator award and completion of 10 speeches specializing in specific areas where a person would like to refine and enhance their speaking skills. Morishita completed five speeches specializing in the “Persuasive Speaking” area and five in the “Speaking to Inform” area.
