NSB to unveil new park, trail near Turnbull Creek
For those looking for another quiet place to explore and enjoy nature, New Smyrna Beach will be hosting a grand opening for the long-awaited Holland Park near Turnbull Creek Friday.
City officials, residents and visitors are invited to help christen the estimated $1.2 million investment in preservation with a ribbon cutting, followed by a trail ride and walk starting at 9 a.m. The park is located at 357 Otter Blvd., just south of Pioneer Trail and west of the creek.
Adjacent to Otter Lake and purchased by the city in 2012 for $516,555 with a $275,000 Volusia ECHO contribution, the park claims 13 acres of pristine hardwoods and 18 acres of water. Recreational uses include parking areas, restrooms, picnic areas, a walking trail and an additional access point and trailhead to the New Smyrna Beach Multi-Use Trail, according to the city.
