  • “Think Like a Man”, director Tim Story’s romantic comedy based on comedian Steve Harvey’s book, has done what others have tried and failed to accomplish. For the first time since it’s release, “The Hunger Games” has been booted from the top spot at the box office. I suppose movie-goers were finally ready to get back to reality this weekend. Still, the adaptation of Susan Collins’ insanely popular young adult novels has had quite a run.

The romantic comedy, which stars Chris Brown, Gabrielle Union, Kevin Hart, and Regina Hall, among others, landed in the top spot over the weekend by collecting a tidy $33 million, according to studio estimates. In second place was the Zac Efron military drama “The Lucky One”, which managed to accumulate roughly $22.8 million in ticket sales.

Sony execs must be quite pleased with how well “Think Like a Man” has performed. The budget for the flick was around $13 million, and estimates had placed the picture’s box office total at around $17 million. When your modestly-budgeted endeavor ends up making twice as much as it cost to produce, I think that’s cause for celebration. In true Hollywood fashion, expect more movies based on dating advice literature to crop up in the near future.

“The Hunger Games”, meanwhile, continues to rake in the cash. Along with this weekend’s $14.5 million, the film also brought in nearly $13 million overseas, bringing the total worldwide gross to a staggering $573 million. One can only begin to imagine how much more the film will make when it finally arrives on DVD and Blu-ray later this year.

“Think Like a Man” fans have been quite vocal about the film, and they’re elated that the film has knocked “The Hunger Games” out of the top spot. Their reactions to the news, as well as their thoughts and feelings towards the flick, can be assessed by investigating the tweets below.
