James Leslie Schulte, age 54, of Golva, North Dakota passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Silha Funeral Home in Beach, North Dakota and 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Golva. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Golva. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Adam Maus as celebrant and Father Dan Berg as concelebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Golva. Silha Funeral Home of Beach has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Jim was born on June 20, 1961 to Larry and Shirley (Watembach) Schulte in Glendive, Montana. He was educated in Golva and graduated with the class of 1979. .

In July of 1980, Jim married Susan Wosepka and to this union five children were born. They later divorced and Jim married Lori Portscheller on March 22, 2013.

While living in Golva, Jim worked from the seventh grade until his senior year for John Schmeling. In his senior year he started work at the Golva Co-op Elevator and then in the summer of 1979 he worked on a drilling rig for Universal and Noble. From September of 1979 until January of 1982 he worked for Fisher Sand and Gravel and January and February of that same year he worked for Sharp Drilling. In March of 1982 Jim went to work for Power fuels and remained there until November of 1983. At this time he purchased several water trucks and went into business with Al Beggar operating Western Dakota Trucking. In March of 1990 He sold the equipment back to Power Fuels and went to work for them again as an Oil/Fuel Superintendent until August of 1993. From December of 1993 until October of 1998 he worked for the Golden Valley County Road Department. In October of that year Jim started work as the Manager for Cenex and Farmer's Union Oil Company and remained there for the next seventeen years until his passing.

Jim served on the Golva School Board for eighteen years and was the President of the School Board for sixteen of those years that he served.

Jim enjoyed gardening, motorcycles, technology and taking long drives. He especially liked to drive through Theodore National Park. Jim was an avid reader and a collector of random knowledge. He liked to share the information that he knew about things with everyone that he met. It was often tough at times to get anywhere with Jim because it seemed as if he knew someone wherever he went and liked to visit with them. Jim loved and cherished the time that he was able to spend with his grandchildren and they dearly loved him in return.

Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Madeline Schulte, John's second wife, Bernice Schulte and John and Florence Watembach.

Jim is survived by his parents, Larry and Shirley Schulte of Beach; his wife, Lori Schulte of Golva; his sons, Derek (Amy) Schulte and their three children Ethan, Tyler and Savannah Schulte, Daniel Schulte, Kevin Schulte and Brandon Schulte; his daughter, RaeAnn Schulte; his stepsons, Jeremy (Melissa) Gunkel and their two children Regan and Drake Grunkel; Jesse (Sarah) Gunkel and their four children Griffin, Slater, Sophia and Ozwald Gunkel, and Josh Gunkel; his stepdaughters, Kiffin Howard and Mikayla Howard; his brothers, John (Teresa) Schulte, Darrel (Heidi) Schulte and Dennis (Christine) Schulte; his sister, Susan (Jerry) Erlenbusch; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
