Around Route 9 in Howell, there are no lights or air conditioners for thousands.
According to JCP&L, Monmouth County still has 160,000 of its customers without power. That’s more than 55% of its service area with Howell, Middletown, Marlboro and Freehold all having more than 10,000 customers affected.
Ocean County has more than 125,000 customers without power. That’s just under 50% of the customers it serves. Brick, Toms River and Forked River were hit especially hard.
Gov. Phil Murphy is scheduled to tour Jackson Township later this morning.
