SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. – A 23-year-old man died in a ski accident at Keystone Resort Friday afternoon.

The victim was skiing on the Spring Dipper intermediate trail when, according to witnesses, he caught an edge, veered off the trail and struck a tree.

“Keystone Ski Patrol and St. Anthony’s Flight for Life crew started life-saving measures and transported the decedent to Keystone Medical Center where further life-saving measures were continued to no avail,” said Summit County coroner Joanne Richardson.

He died from multiple skull fractures.

Richardson said the victim was from the Denver area, but his name was not released Friday pending notification of next of kin.
