Watch: Netflix Trailers For David Lynch Produced 'My Beautiful Broken Brain' & Alex Gibney's 'Cooked'

If content is king, then Netflix is proudly wearing the crown. It seems a week doesn’t go by without the streaming giant acquiring a movie, bringing a TV show life, or launching an ambitious original production. Indeed, the past seven days has seen Netflix drop two trailers for their ever growing documentary category.

First up is “My Beautiful Broken Brain,” co-directed by Sophie Robinson and Lotje Sodderland, and boasting an executive producer credit belonging to David Lynch. The films follows Lotje Sodderland’s incredible story of rehabilitation and recovery from a traumatic hemorrhagic stroke, as she starts again in an alien world, bereft of language and logic, fighting not to be defined by her limitations, rather the endless possibilities of life. “I am thrilled to join Lotje and Sophie in sharing ‘My Beautiful Broken Brain’ with the world. The brain is truly fascinating and much in the way that our brains are able to achieve total coherence  finding enlightenment and fulfillment, you will surely be moved and inspired by this journey of self-rediscovery,” Lynch said.

Meanwhile, the prolific Alex Gibney has put his producer stamp on “Cooked.” The four-episode series examines one of the physical elements used throughout the ages to transform raw ingredients into delicious dishes through cooking: fire, water, air, and earth. It follows an Aboriginal tribe in Western Australia that fire-roasts Australian monitor lizards, a Connecticut Benedictine nun and microbiologist who makes traditional French cheese, Peruvian brewers who use human saliva to ferment a traditional beverage, and an ancient Moroccan granary powered by rivers.

“My Beautiful Broken Brain” will debut at SXSW before hitting Netflix on March 18th. “Cooked” will screen at the Berlin International Film Festival this month, and arrive on Netflix on February 19th.
