Mosinyi Encourages Parents To Teach Children About Culture

Mosinyi was speaking during the Selebi-Phikwe tribal administration culture day which was held on Thursday under the theme, ‘Tsosoloso ngwao le matlotlo a rona’. He said parents have the responsibility to impart knowledge to their children. He said they have to be encouraged to live by it daily so that they can know more about it.

He added that it is disheartening that children take pride and have adopted other cultures that come with foreigners. “Children no longer know their cousins, uncles and aunts because they are raised in isolation. We have taught them that the English language is better and more valuable than other languages. It has been evident in the past few years that our culture is valuable and that it can be used to earn a living. We have seen young people using Setswana songs and poems to generate income. It is interesting because this is the other way of promoting and marketing our culture”, he said.
