Derrick May will get a taste of international football early next month when he plays for the United States U19 Select Team in the International Bowl at Arlington, Texas.

The Terre Haute South senior was chosen for the 40-man squad after three rounds of tryouts that took him to Avon, then Lexington, Ky., and then to Canton, Ohio. His team will play the Nordic team from Europe on Jan. 11 in one of eight games in the two-day event.

A 5-foot-10, 270-pounder who was a regular for the Braves on the defensive line the past two seasons, May will be a defensive lineman in the game at Texas as well.

"I'm hoping to get a couple more colleges to look at me," May told the Tribune-Star. "I feel absolutely amazing; I'll finally get the opportunity to show my skills on another level."

May has been in contact with Millikin, Manchester, Wabash, Anderson and Franklin so far, he said.
