WINNINGTON Park ended a six-week wait to play again in the North West Men’s League last Saturday, when they shared eight goals with visiting Bebington.

Michael Sambell scored twice for the home team in a 4-4 draw at Sir John Deane’s College, where Jack Whalley and man of the match Joe Booth were also on target.

They stay sixth in the standings ahead of a trip to Knutsford this weekend.

Meanwhile Park’s seconds went down 5-3 against their promotion-chasing Bebington counterparts.

Ben Rigby, Harry Garner and Adam Kueres, picked afterwards as their best performer, accounted for the Northwich outfit’s goals.

Winnington’s thirds proved too strong for guests Northop Hall seconds, scoring four times without reply.

Matty Entwistle claimed a double in between goals from Jack Millington and John Crouchley, while goalkeeper Sam Robbins made a string of fine saves to ensure he kept a clean-sheet.

Park’s fourths could not end Wrexham seconds’ unbeaten run, losing narrowly.

They recovered from the blow of conceding first when Joe Bell initiated an attack that ended with Liam McKee converting Alex Goldie’s cross.

However the Welsh outfit netted a winner with 10 minutes left.
