President of LCU Tim Perrin takes senior position at Pepperdine University

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock Christian University announced on Wednesday, April 17, that President Tim Perrin will be taking a job as a senior vice president with Pepperdine University in California, where he previously worked in faculty and administrative roles for 20 years. Perrin served with LCU for seven years.

Perrin has been influential in raising money for LCU, in his time with Lubbock Christian, The university launched the 2020 Vision Campaign, raising $70 million to date in gifts and pledges, exceeding the victory goal of $60 million. The campaign allowed the addition of more than 100,000 square feet of academic space to the campus, including the Margaret Talkington Center for Nursing Education, the James and Jeanette Ling Science Center, and the Christa Dobbs Center for Business.

Perrin also oversaw the University’s expansion of student offerings, including a new study abroad program in Avila, Spain,as well as the development of several academic centers and institutes, including the Rhodes Institute for Undergraduate Research, the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship, the Center for Faith and Business, and Mission Link: the Center for Global Engagement, and others.

In a news release from LCU, President Tim Perrin commented: “It has been the thrill of a lifetime to serve my alma mater as president for the last seven years. According to the release, Perrin was a student-athlete at LCU, and he presided over a period of growth for the LCU Athletics program. The university transitioned from the NAIA into NCAA Division II, added indoor and outdoor track and competitive cheer, and continued its tradition of success on and off the court. Among the numerous post-season appearances made by the LCU men’s and women’s teams, the Lady Chap Basketball team won two NCAA Division II National Championships (the 15th and 16th in LCU’s athletic history), including the 2019 championship in a double overtime thriller in April.

LCU states that the LCU Board of Trustees will meet the first week in May and will share additional information about the presidential search following the board’s meeting.
