Singer Kelly Price Is Getting A Divorce, Splits From Husband Of 23 Years

R & B singer Kelly Price has filed for divorce from her husband of 23 years, The Philadelphia Enquirer is reporting.

The 42-year-old Price has been married to her manager, Jeffrey Rolle, since 1992. The divorce will also end the couple’s relationship as manager and client. Price and Rolle began dating when Kelly was only 19-years-old.

In a statement provided by Always A List, Price confirmed that the divorce does not spell the end of her love for her soon-to-be ex-husband.

“After the untimely death of my sister last year, it weighed on me heavily that this was something we needed to do. I ultimately made the decision to live the best life I can. I ended things because I didn’t want to compromise what true happiness was anymore. There are no hard feelings and I will love Jeff until the day I die!”

Jeffrey Rolle declined to release a statement.

On Friday morning, Kelly posted a selfie on Instagram. Although she didn’t directly mention her divorce, you can tell by the caption that she’s got a lot on her mind.

“Quiet time. Time of reflection…. Necessary. I’m good.”

Kelly Price began her career as a backup singer for Mariah Carey, and has also worked with The Isley Brothers and R. Kelly. Her most famous hits include “‘You Should’ve Told Me,” “It’s My Time,” and “As We Lay.”

She’s released five R & B albums, a gospel album, and a Christmas album, and has been nominated for seven Grammy awards. Kelly Price also appeared in one season of R & B Divas: Los Angeles, in 2013.

While Kelly is obviously going to be going through some difficult times in the days ahead, her fans have her back. On her Instagram post, fans are offering the R & B singer their well-wishes and thoughts and prayers.

“Glad to here you are getting that quiet time you need during this transition. The best time to look at what was and what is to come. Support and encouragement from family and friends who love you is the best part.”

“Kelly, your beautiful hold Your head high. We never know what curve life has for us stay strong in your faith in God he will see you thru this”

Kelly Price says she plans to write songs about her divorce that will be included on her next album, Sing, Pray, Love Vol. 2: Pray.
