The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) has a new chairperson in the person of Ms. Evelyn R. Singson.

PPCRV said Singson is a well-known leader in the business world and of movements dedicated to national service, a TOWNS' (Ten Outstanding Women in the Nation's Service) awardee and its past president, past president of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP), Chair of the Women for Women Foundation (Asia) Inc., Chair and Co-Founder of the Asian Hospital Inc., Trustee and Treasurer of the Philippine Institute of CPAS (PICPA), National Music Competitions for Young Artists Foundation Inc. (NAMCYA) and Museo Pambata Foundation Inc., among many others.

The church based poll watchdog group said, Singson has outlined a program for PPCRV that will be ongoing from now till the next elections as she believes that "PPCRV's work prior to elections is just as important as its work during elections."

As their new chairperson, PPCRV said, Singson will focus on two main aspects in line with their mission: To strengthen the Technical Group of PPCRV in monitoring the integrity of the voting machines and, keeping secure and protected the Automated Election System.

"At the same time, she averred that 'machines do not elect the leadership, voters do.' As such, PPCRV's ongoing work program will be 'educating the voters to learn and discern what is moral and right.' This will define what responsible voting would mean for the electorate," the group said in a statement.

"In her tenure, PPCRV will proactively invigorate parishes, church organizations, schools, civic clubs and the business community to join hands in ensuring responsible voting," added PPCRV.

PPCRV said this is because Singson envisions a citizenry converted toward "putting country above self."

Singson succeeded Myla C. Villanueva who stepped down as chairperson last month.
