Apple iPhone 7 might be launching soon, but what does Cupertino have in store for the iPad? According to  KGI Securities’ noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple could be planning three new iPad models for 2017, with a 10.5-inch version, 9.7-inch version which will have a more affordable price and the 12.9-inch Pro version.

Kuo’s note to investors, which has been picked up by MacRumours, says the new iPads are not expected to boost shipments for the segment, and the 10.5-inch iPad could instead boost Apple’s presence in commercial and education markets. The report also says TSMC will be the chipset provider for A10X processor, while the 9.7-inch model might have the A9X processor.

Kuo also predicts radical design change for the iPad, which includes AMOLED display, will come in 2018 at the earliest, although overall he expects iPad shipments to continue declining for Apple. The company is expected to introduce an OLED display iPhone in 2017, (which marks the 10th anniversary of the device) and once it gets the OLED display production sorted, Apple might just extend it to the iPad.

His note also makes no mention of the iPad Mini device, and it can be presumed Apple will let this product die, give the 5.5-inch iPhone Plus has taken its place.

Apple iPhone 7 launches in September, and the company is not expected to make radical design changes like an glass body. Instead the iPhone 7 is expected to come with an improved pressure-sensitive display, dual-rear camera and no headphone jack, 32GB as the base storage and water resistance added to it.

For Apple, both the Mac and iPad have been seeing sales decline in the last couple of quarters. In case of the MacBook Pro, Apple is expected to launch a new refreshed version this year which will have an OLED Touch panel that replaces the function keys on top. The new MacBook Pro could also come with a faster AMD graphics processor, according to reports.

For Apple, the iPad has been struggling to keep up sales. In the last quarter results, Apple sold around 9.9 million iPads, which is a 9 per cent year-on-year decline. The tablet market has itself shrunk, thanks to the rise of bigger screen smartphones, with 5.5-inch phones becoming the new standard.
