South Barrington Garden Club announces scholarship winners

The South Barrington Garden Club presented a scholarship check for $2,000 to Eleanore van Marwijk Kooy. Eleanore, from Woodland Academy of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest, will be attending Duke University as a freshman in environmental studies.

Other scholarship winners were Alex Horvath, a Barrington High School graduate, who will be attending the University of Wisconsin at Madison and Cindy Aguilera-Navarro, a Hoffman Estates High School graduate, who will be attending Agnes Scott College, majoring in plant biology and biochemistry.

The South Barrington Garden Club is open to new members and guests. The cost for membership is $25 for South Barrington residents and $35 for nonresidents. Meetings are held on the first Thursday morning of the month, year-round, at the South Barrington Club, 3 Tennis Club Lane, South Barrington. Meetings consist of speakers, hands-on projects and summer bus trips to points of interest in the area.
