The University of Hartford men's lacrosse team dropped a 10-8 decision at Stony Brook in its America East opener on Saturday. Tom Haun and Wayne White each scored a pair of goals for the Seawolves, who ended the game on a 4-1 run to erase a 7-6 Hartford lead.

Justin Huggins and
Griffin Feiner each netted a hat trick to pace the offense for the Hawks in the losing effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Hartford took its largest lead early in the game, as junior Dylan Jinks and senior Rion Davison made it a 2-0 lead less than three minutes in.
- Stony Brook answered with three-straight scores and from there, the game would see two more lead changes before halftime.
- With the score knotted up at 5-5, Haun's first goal of the game provided the Seawolves with a slight, 6-5 edge at the break.
- The Hawks opened up the second half on a roll, as Huggins tied things up at 6-6 with 7:10 left in the third before Feiner gave his team a one-goal lead at 7-6 with 3:13 to go.
- But Stony Brook responded with a pair of goals in the stanza's final 2:20 before taking its largest lead of the game – a two-goal margin – on a Connor Gripe goal with 3:12 remaining.
- Feiner cut the Hawks' deficit down to one with his third goal of the game with 2:11 left, but Haun would score on an empty net to seal the win for the Seawolves.

- Feiner's hat trick marked his fifth in as many outings.
- Huggins, who needed just four shots to net three goals, tacked on an assist to lead the Hawks with four points.
- Senior Dylan Protesto posted a 13-of-22 effort on faceoffs, adding 11 ground balls for Hartford, which held a 25-19 margin in ground balls.
- Stony Brook held a 35-34 advantage in shots.
- The Hawks went converted on their only man-up opportunity, while Stony Brook went 2-of-3 on EMOs.
