COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Low pressure northeast of the Bahamas could become the season’s second tropical storm this weekend as a wet weather system takes aim on the Southeast.

The storm labeled Invest 91-L is being closely monitored by the National Hurricane Center (NHC). Once winds reach 39 mph, the storm would be named Tropical Storm Bonnie. Earlier this year, Tropical Storm Alex formed off the Southeast coast in January–a rare wintertime development.
Last May, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, felt minor impacts from Tropical Storm Ana. In 2012. Alberto and Beryl were May systems that developed off the southeastern coast of the United States, before the start of the hurricane season. Beryl made landfall in northeastern Florida.
