Empire season 5 spoilers: Nicole Ari Parker promoted to regular
According to a new report coming in right now via Deadline, Parker is going to be a series regular for the upcoming season in her role as Giselle Baker. We’ve already seen a good bit of drama surrounding Eddie Baker’s ex, but moving forward (per the character description for season 5) we will see her “stepping out of the shadow of her ex in an effort to seize power herself. Along the way she’ll tackle grudges, make unexpected alliances and find a surprising love interest.”
Seeing this character step forward in this sort of way for the upcoming season should not come as too much of a surprise, especially since Empire is in the position where they are looking for a new female power-player. The season 4 finale brought an end to Anika (Grace Byers) on the series, and with that, this left a void for someone else to fill. This could be where Giselle gets a chance to shine!
In general, we think that season 5 is an exciting time for Empire since it could in some ways represent the Lyon family starting over. With Lucious and Cookie getting engaged and with the family having new plans for their future business dealings, this could be a reset that actually makes them into underdogs. That’s rather fun, mostly because it is a situation that we have not seem from them throughout the series.
