Divorce fight preceded shooting

Stephanie Taylor Staff Writer

A woman accused of trying to kill her boyfriend while on a video call to his wife Wednesday was angry he hadn't signed divorce papers, according to court documents filed Thursday.

Keanna Cammon, 38, was waving a gun and threatening to shoot if the man didn't sign the papers, the estranged wife told police.

The man was shot in the torso, leaving him critically injured as his wife watched on a Facebook video call.

Cammon admitted to investigators that she was waving the gun, saying it fired while she was arguing with the shooting victim's wife. The wife told police Cammon was threatening to kill him if he didn't finalize their divorce.

Cammon was charged with attempted murder and remained in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Thursday with bond set at $60,000. The victim, 30, remained hospitalized and in critical condition.

The man's wife was at work in Jefferson County at the time of the shooting, and posted screenshots from the call on Facebook, saying she was alarmed because she didn't know where to send police.

According to court records, Cammon filed for divorce from her husband last week.
