AVA: Exhibit: Leslie Rech-Requiem for a Hardware Store site-sensitive installation

Ballet Tennessee Saturday Master Class Series

Dancers at an intermediate to advanced level are cordially invited to attend the Master Classes held at Ballet Tennessee on Saturdays. Saturday, September 27 Stephanie Braly of Huntsville Ballet and Images Dance will teach an Advanced Jazz Class from 12:15-1:45. Classes are $15 a piece. Classes will be taught by Stephanie Braly, Jessica Laliberte & Ray Hall. When the series resumes in January guests will include Mark Diamond, Jon Rodgriguez and dancers from Alvin Ailey II. "Black Diamond Days: A History of the Negro Baseball Leagues"

In 1997, the Chattanooga Regional History Museum opened Black Diamond Days: A History of Negro League Baseball to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Major League Baseball's finest moment - April 15, 1947, the day that Jackie Robinson stepped onto the playing field for the Brooklyn Dodgers and broke modern baseball's "color barrier." The in-house designed and built exhibit will be on view once again, July 18 - October 26, 2003 To celebrate the return of Black Diamond Days, the history museum plans to host a reunion highlighting Chattanooga's African-American Little League teams. Anyone who was involved with the Little Leaguers, either as players, parents, umpires coaches, sponsors or in any other way, or anyone who knows of contacts who might be helpful with the museum's efforts, is asked to please call the museum's Program Director, Mary Beth Sanders, at 423-265-3247, as soon as possible. The reunion will be open to the public so that the Little Leaguers' stories can be shared with the community.

Chattanooga, Parks, Rec, Arts & Culture-Guitar Lessons

Beginning guitar lessons will be held at the Brainerd Rec Center Complex beginning on the evening of Sept. 11. The class will meet every Thursday for four weeks and the cost is $40. Chattanooga Parks, Rec, Arts & Culture-Water Color Classes

Water color classes will be held from Sept. 12-Oct. 17 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am every Friday morning. The cost of the class is $36 and is open to all adults and seniors interested in learning the basics of creating water color art pieces. John Totten Memorial First Friday Old-time Gospel Singing

Calvary Assembly of God will host a shape-note singing the first Friday of each month through 2003. The singings will be held on July 4, August 1, September 5, October 3, November 7, and December 5. Walk-on shape-note choir singing will start at 7 PM until 7:30 PM. Choir seating will be on a first come basis. The choir will be accompanied by a walk-on acoustic band. The entire community is invited to participate in either the choir or acoustic band. There will be an open-mike special singing between 7:30 to 8 PM. All combinations of performers are invited to participate. Slots are limited so performers should sign-up early by calling the event chairman, Donnie Bryson. There will be a five-minute time limit for each group. There will be a seven shape-note singing school held before each singing. The shape-note singing school will last from 5:45 PM to 6:45 PM.

Oak Street Playhouse-"Miracle On 34th Street" Auditions

Auditions for "Miracle On 34th Street" will be held on Sunday, October 5th at 5 PM and Monday, October 6th at 6:30 PM. Various roles are available, from a girl around the age of ten to a Santa Claus age gentleman. Approximately 15 roles for men, women, and children are available. No preparation is necessary. Auditions will be held at the Oak Street Playhouse, in First Centenary United Methodist Church, at the corner of Oak and Lindsey in Downtown Chattanooga. Arts & Education Council/The Mountain Lake Trust for Public Land-"Rivers and Tides"

Rivers and Tides is a rare film about an artist that is, in itself, a work of art. It is a sensual and poetic journey in to the world and mind of renowned Scottish sculptor Andy Goldsworthy. Using materials from nature, Goldsworthy allows the elements to have the last say in his beautiful creations. Thomas Reidelsheimer followed the artist for over a year documenting his improvisational working process and capturing the serene spectacle of his works. The San Francisco Critics Circle named "Rivers and Tides" the best Documentary Film of 2002. Admission is $7.50, $5.00 for students and AEC film club card holders. Recruiting Men to Sing Barbershop

The Chattanooga Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing, commonly known as the Choo Choo Chorus, is looking for a "few good men" to come and join us in preparing for our Christmas show. The performance will be held at the C.C. Bond Auditorium on the Chattanooga State Campus on Friday evening, December 5. The chorus will perform familiar songs, and you are invited to rehearse starting Monday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. (and each Monday evening after) at the old All Saints' Academy Bldg.
