If you have a sweet tooth, Double Dipt is the place to go for your fix in downtown Corpus Christi.

The sandwich and ice cream shop, located at 505 S. Water St., opened for business in early Sept.

Lynn Nelson scoops a cone of ice cream at the Double Dip Ice Cream and Deli on Wednesday, Sep. 19, 2018.

Owners Lynn Nelson, from Florida, and Mike Movsesian, from Austin, said they moved to South Texas after retiring and wanted to start a business.

"We noticed downtown didn't have an ice cream place so we brought one here," Nelson said. "I wanted to provide lunch for offices in the area so we deliver sandwiches."

Double Dipt makes homemade ice cream and features a deli with Boar's Head meat.

Nelson said she plans to add bagels to the store's menu and to extend business hours.

"This place will help make people happy," she said. "Who doesn't like ice cream?"

Movsesian said the couple hopes to open additional ice cream shops in the Coastal Bend.

"This has been a learning experience," he said. "It's been fun getting this going."

Double Dipt is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays.
