Lyon County man jailed in Fernley stabbing, victim in serious condition
A Silver Springs man is in custody and faces attempted murder and domestic battery with bodily harm charges following an incident Sunday in Fernley, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
Charles Walkin, 48, was taken into custody and is being held on $100,000 bail. According to the sheriff's office, on Sunday at around 3:30 p.m., LCSO patrol deputies were sent to McDonald’s in Fernley for a report of woman who had been stabbed outside of the restaurant.
Deputies were advised the suspect fled the area on a bicycle and was heading south on Main Street. Deputies were in the area and were able to locate the suspect and detain him within 4 minutes of the time of call, according to LCSO Sgt. Ryan Powell.
The victim was rushed to an area hospital and is reported to be in “serious” condition. Detectives arrived on scene to investigate and are currently conducting an investigation. The preliminary investigation thus far indicates this was a domestic violence situation, between the victim and the suspect, said Powell.
Walkin was arrested for suspicion of attempted murder with a bail $100,000 bail. Additionally there is a crime enhancement of Domestic Violence applied to his charge.
