Britton-Hecla qualifies for team competition at national trapshooting event

The Britton-Hecla trapshooting squad finished 46th overall in the team qualifier competition at the USA High School Clay Target League National Championships in Mason, Mich., Wednesday.

Britton-Hecla is one of five teams from South Dakota competing in the national event and the highest placing of the five.

Hot Springs was 75th, followed by Chamberlain (117th), Belle Fourche (145) and Groton (149). A total of 173 teams competed Wednesday. The top 80 — which includes Britton-Hecla and Hot Springs — will compete for the team championships Sunday.

The individual qualifying competition is set for Saturday with the championships to be held Sunday.
