Two charged after police pursuit, NSW

Police have charged two men after a pursuit at Brighton Le Sands overnight, NSW Police say.

Just before 11pm (Thursday 8 February 2018), police attached to St George Local Area Command were patrolling The Grand Parade, when they attempted to stop a Holden Commodore to speak with the driver.

When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated, coming to a stop at the intersection of The Grand Parade and Bay Street.

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly located a knife and drugs.

Subsequent police checks revealed that the driver was disqualified.

The driver, a 30-year-old man and his passenger, a 24-year-old man, were arrested and taken to Kogarah Police Station.

The vehicle was seized and will undergo forensic analysis.

The 30-year-old was charged with police pursuit – not stop (Skye’s Law), drive whilst disqualified and custody of a knife.

The 24-year-old was charged with breach bail conditions.

They were both refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Friday 9 February 2018).
