News 10 will begin a 4 p.m. broadcast beginning on Sept. 21 and the station has hired Lydia Kulbida, who will team up with Elisa Streeter as anchors. The new broadcast will feature news of the day, weather and a “unique perspective to daily issues facing women, children and families in general, in the Capital District,” according to the announcement. “I was looking for something different, something I could really be proud of,” said Kulbida, who was laid off from New Channel 13 late last year. “I think this 4 p.m. newscast gives us a chance to explore and give greater depth to topics that are really important to the Capital Region. I’m really excited to join News 10 to make this happen.” Long time meteorologist Steve Caporizzo will be doing the weather during the 4 p.m. broadcast. “This is an exciting day for us at News 10. We’re going to be doing something unique to this market”, says News 10 News Director Rob Hubler. “We thought long and hard about this newscast and how to make it work. I believe we have the right team in place to make this a huge success.” In addition to the new 4pm newscast, Kulbida will be a regular contributor for News 10 at 5, 6 and 11pm.
