CONCORD, Va. (WSET) -- Columbia Gas of Virginia said it's teaming up with Gleaning for the World to help with relief efforts to families impacted by the EF-3 tornado that ripped through Lynchburg, Campbell County, and Amherst County last week.

Columbia will be presenting Gleaning with a $10,000 check for families.

Jeane Smiley-Mason, Gleaning's president, will be accepting the check from Columbia Gas on Friday, April 27 at Gleaning's Headquarters in Concord at 10 a.m.

"We are very grateful for the support of Columbia Gas. This gift will provide relief to thousands of hurting families in our community," stated Smiley-Mason. "There is more to do and we hope that people will join with us to alleviate suffering right here in Central and Southwest Virginia."

Gleaning said if businesses and organizations would like to partner with them to help families, they are invited to call 1-877-913-9212.

Financial donations are accepted online.
