Here are 18 things to enjoy in the Loveland area this week.

‘Sesame Street Live’

“Sesame Street Live: Let’s Party” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the Budweiser Events Center, 5290 Arena Circle, Loveland.

The inaugural production under Feld Entertainment’s new partnership with the nonprofit educational organization, Sesame Workshop, features favorite Sesame Street pals Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird and more in a brand-new sensory adventure live on stage.

Tickets are $30-$50, available at BudweiserEventsCenter.com and the Budweiser Events Center Box Office.

A pre-show interactive experience is available at 5 p.m. Tickets for that are $20.

ICE Racing Series

The World Championship ICE Racing series presents the Next Generation Fire on Ice Tour at the Budweiser Events Center, 5290 Arena Circle, Loveland, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.

The event will feature big names in professional motorcycle ice racing, as well as the wild Unlimited Outlaw Quads that shred the ice with razor sharp studded tires.

There will be a guest appearance by a four-time Guinness Record holder.

Tickets are $19-$29 in advance, increasing $5 the day of the event. Kids tickets are $9.

‘Piano for the Soul’

Local pianist Gary Schmidt will perform a “Piano for the Soul” piano program at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the Rialto Theater Center, 228 E. Fourth St., Loveland.

Schmidt has performed in Canada, Mexico and Europe, and has performed some of his original piano compositions at Carnegie Hall.

Schmidt’s concert will feature his unique mixture of classical masterpieces and his own piano compositions from his latest recordings.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and children under 12.

Vintage Market

An Old House Vintage Market will take place at Friday-Saturday, Jan. 19-20, at First National Bank Exhibition Hall at The Ranch, 5280 Arena Circle, Loveland.

The market offers upscale antique, vintage, salvage, upcycled and handmade wares from more than 80 small businesses.

The market will open at 5-9 p.m. Jan. 19, with a $17 admission free.

Hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 20, with a $7 admission fee.

Children age 12 and under are free both days.

Stars of Tomorrow

The Big Thompson Kiwanis Club will present the annual Stars of Tomorrow show at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Rialto Theater Center, 228 E. Fourth St., Loveland.

Auditioned performers in kindergarten through 12th-grade will show their talents and compete for scholarships.

HAM Fest

The Northern Colorado Amateur Radio Club’s HAM Fest will take place at 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the McKee 4-H Building at The Ranch, 5260 Arena Circle, Loveland.

The public can learn about ham radio with exhibits, demonstrations and more. Admission is $6.

‘Earth, Air, Fire, Water’

“Earth, Air, Fire, Water,” a Colorado Mosaic Artists’ exhibition, opens Jan. 20 at the Loveland Museum/Gallery’s Green Room.

Mosaic artists embrace the elements in a variety of artistic interpretations.

Admission is free.

The museum is located at 503 N. Lincoln Ave.

The show runs through May 13.

An opening reception will take place at 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, and a talk by Marlea Taylor and Kathy Thaden, “From the Past to Present — A Look at Mosaic Art,” will be offered at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.

Travel Film Series

The Loveland Breakfast Optimists Club’s annual Travel and Adventure Film Series starts with “East African Sojourn” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Loveland High School auditorium, 920 W. 29th St., Loveland.

Future films are “Hawaii and the South Pacific” on Feb. 17, “Tibet: A Light in the Darkness” on March 17 and “Guatemala — Land of the Maya” on April 21.

Michael Martin Murphey

Michael Martin Murphey will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Rialto Theater Center, 228 E. Fourth St., Loveland.

Murphey, a multiple Grammy nominee and an inductee into the Western Music Hall of Fame, spends his days as a working cowboy who embraces and celebrates what he calls the cowboy culture. Over the past 40 years, Murphey has left an indelible mark on the American Music Landscape with hits like “Geronimo’s Cadillac,” “Cosmic Cowboy” and “Cherokee Fiddle.”

‘The Final Year’

The Phyllis Walbye Film Series will present “The Final Year” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Rialto Theater Center, 228 E. Fourth St., Loveland.

The film offers an insiders’ account of President Barack Obama’s foreign policy team during their last year in office. Featuring unprecedented access inside the White House and State Department, “The Final Year” offers a view of the inner workings of the Obama Administration as they prepare to leave power after eight years.

‘Public Art Showcase’

The Loveland Museum Gallery, 503 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, will present a “Public Art Showcase” program at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25.

Americans for the Arts’ Public Art Network Year in Review showcases excellence in public art on a national scale.

In 2017, it featured 38 selected artworks.

Our Community Values

Mental illness will be the topic for the Our Community Values Forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Rialto Theater Center Devereaux Room, 228 E. Fourth St., Loveland.

Kathleen McKinney, PhD., a licensed social worker, will discuss various kinds of mental illness, what mental illness means for the community and how a community can respond to help those in need.

Canadian Brass

McNally-Kimmerle Art

A Sue McNally and Chuck Kimmerle exhibit will open at the Museum of Art — Fort Collins, 201 S. College Ave., on Friday, Jan. 19, and continue through March 18.

McNally has painted a series of works on “This Land Is My Land” that represent one artist reckoning with our culture and what it means to be an American, starting with our land and the views that we mythologize and hold sacred.

Kimmerle’s landscape photography centers primarily around the intersections of where man and nature meet.

A concert with duo Taggart & Silas will take place at 7:30-9 p.m. Jan. 19. Admission is $20.

During the concert, McNally and the musical duo will have a musical/visual dialog about art in its many mediums.

The museum is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday Friday and noon-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for students with ID and seniors (over 65) and $1 for youths 7-18. Children 6 and under and museum members are free.

Be a Light

Members of the theater community will come together at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the Lincoln Center, 417 W. Magnolia, Fort Collins, as a symbol for the safe space and inclusivity they want to embody.

Members and friends of OpenStage Theatre and Co., Bas Bleu Theatre Co., Comedy Brewers, Fort Collins Fringe Festival and other performing arts supporters will gather outside of the Lincoln Center at 5 p.m. Inspired by the tradition of leaving a “ghost light” on in a darkened theater, there will be a ceremonial lighting at 5:30.

Artists and communities will make or renew a pledge to stand for and protect the values of inclusion, participation, and compassion for everyone regardless of race, class, religion, country of origin, immigration status, (dis)ability, gender identity or sexual orientation.

All are welcome. Bring a flashlight or smartphone.

‘The Crucible’

Openstage Theatre will present “The Crucible,” opening at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Lincoln Center Magnolia Theatre, 417 W. Magnolia, Fort Collins.

In Arthur Miller’s play, which won the 1953 Tony for Best Play, the year is 1642 and the village of Salem is feverish with tales of witchcraft. Deep-seated jealousies, lust and greed are erupting in the form of deadly accusations. Revenge has replaced reason; mere rumors are now damning evidence — and no one is safe.

After the opening, the play will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Feb. 17, as well as a matinee at 2 p.m. Feb. 4 and 11.

Tickets are $25-$30 for adults, $20-$25 for seniors and students, and $12 for children and teens.

‘An Evening with Groucho’

Frank Ferrante will present “An Evening with Groucho” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave., Greeley.

The award-winning actor and director recreated his acclaimed portrayal of the legendary comedian in a fast-paced two-act comedy. The show features some of the best Groucho one-liners, anecdotes and songs including “Hooray for Captain Spalding ” and “Lydia, the Tattooed Lady.”

Los Lobos

The Stanley Hotel, 333 E. Wonderview Ave., Estes Park, will present Los Lobos in concert at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.

As part of their 40th anniversary celebration tour, Los Lobos brings their unique sound and energy to the stage with hits including “La Bamba,” “Come On, Let’s Go,” “Donna,” and “Set Me Free (Rose Lee)” as well as songs from their latest album, “Gates of Gold.”
