Jose Mourinho had to substitute striker Loic Remy just minutes after he had given Chelsea the lead against Maribor, after the France international picked up a suspected groin injury.

It took the Frenchman just 13 minutes to open the scoring, but pulled up immediately after finding the net in clear discomfort. He was substituted just three minutes later.

Club legend Didier Drogba replaced him, and immediately got in on the act himself after Chelsea were awarded a penalty following a handball by Mertelj. The Ivorian stepped up to score his goal since returning to the club, to hand Chelsea a two-goal lead.

Remy had been deputising for the injured Diego Costa, with Chelsea's top goalscorer having been ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Constantly plagued by problems with his hamstrings, Costa aggravated the injury while on international duty with Spain last week, sparking fierce criticism from Mourinho.
