Mrs Doubtfire

Did you grow up in the 1990s? Well you’re going to be pretty excited about this ah-mazing news (get ready to squeal) – there’s a Mrs Doubtfire sequel in the works!

She was the nanny we all wanted because she was so darn fun – and now she’s heading back with Robin Williams reprising his 1993 classic role.

Williams, 62, played the role of Daniel Hillard, who took on the disguise of Scottish nanny Mrs Euphegenia Doubtfire in order to spend more time with his children.

US reports claim the actor is keen to return for the sequel, which is reportedly in the works in Hollywood.

Harry Potter director Chris Columbus is set to direct and Elf writer David Berenbaum is set to write the script, according to The Wrap.

It’s been a long-time coming as the Hollywood Reporter claim film bosses have been trying to commission Mrs Doubtfire 2 since 2001.

The classic film also starred Sally Field as Williams’ on-screen ex-wife and Pierce Brosnan as her new love interest.

And twenty years on it still makes for the perfect Sunday afternoon dose of nostalgia viewing.

As well as teaching us men sometimes like to dress up as women and Pierce Brosnan has more strings to his bow than 007, it’s shown us all:

James Bond can be done over by a nanny:

Until 1993, who knew a cream cake doubled up as a speedy face mask?

Don’t go near the kitchen if you’re wearing a padded bra.

And who didn’t love dancing around their living rooms to House of Pain’s Jump Around (it made us look so cool):
