The Brooklyn Nets are one of the teams who are considering trading for Reggie Jackson. Can they make a deal work with the Oklahoma City Thunder?

Just when the NBA trade deadline couldn’t get more insane, it did.

The Nets are a team who’s hosting an unofficial fire sale and they have been in a bunch of trade rumors including the most recent talks of trading away Kevin Garnett to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and previous talks of bringing Lance Stephenson back to New York City from the Charlotte Hornets.

Now in the most recent development of the NBA trade deadline there’s another player who the Nets can add to the list of their fire sale, Brook Lopez.

The 7’0 275-pound center from North Hollywood, California might be getting ready to make a move to the midwest as the Oklahoma City Thunder are salivating to bring Lopez to the Thunder.

The person that the Thunder would trade away for Lopez is their backup point guard, Reggie Jackson.

It’s been no secret that Jackson is unhappy with his role on the Thunder. Going into the season Jackson was looked at as a potential Sixth Man of the Year candidate, and a future starting guard on the roster, but since the Thunder traded for Dion Waiters, Jackson’s role on the team has been a bit diminished.

For the Thunder, they have a number of guards, so Jackson’s departure wouldn’t truly hurt them. What does hurt the Thunder is their lack of a consistent interior post scorer and that’s where Lopez would do their team wonders.

The Thunder are dealing with an injury to their starting center, Steven Adams. If the trade were to get accomplished and Lopez would join the Thunder then he could have an instantaneous impact on their team. This season Lopez is averaging 15.3 points on 50 percent shooting, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game while playing 27.1 minutes a night.

For Jackson, he would join the Nets and might become the starting point guard. Even though he would have to compete with Deron Williams, and Jarrett Jack for the position, he would have the leg up since he’s only 24-years-old, very athletic, and very skilled.

This season Jackson is averaging 12.8 points, 4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and only 1.8 turnovers per game while putting up a 15.71 PER.

Keep watch on this deal.
