Texas holding five chances to bounce off the NCAA bubble

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas hits the stretch run with Saturday’s game at Oklahoma. The Longhorns are well-aware of where they stand for a spot in the NCAA Tournament and realize they have the opportunity to arrange their own fate.

For Texas to feel completely confident in its tournament chances, they’ll likely need to go 3-2 in the final five regular season contests. A 18-13 overall record with a winning Big 12 record is probably good enough for somewhere in 8-10 seed territory.

“We’re on the bubble we kind of know that and we just want to go out and prove we belong in the tournament,” Kerwin Roach said.

It’s easy for Texas to play the “what if” game with some of the disappointing early season losses. Radford and VCU are the two winnable games making the Longhorns record look worse than it really is.

Texas coach Shaka Smart will look to his veterans down the stretch to keep the team on track, but every player on the roster knows the answer for reaching the postseason.

“The easiest answer to worrying about the tournament is just to win,” Eli Mitrou-Long said.
