Rock Re-Sign Kieran McArdle

September 18, 2018 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release

Oakville, ON - Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick has announced the re-signing of forward Kieran McArdle to a one-year agreement. The contract is pending league approval.

The 26-year from Ronkonkoma, NY arrived on the scene two years ago with no box lacrosse experience but after 17 and 18 goal seasons, the Rock believe he's ready to take the next step in 2018-19. The crossover from outdoor to indoor dominance has been a process for McArdle and in year three of his NLL career, all signs point to a bigger role, especially with the departures of Turner Evans and Brett Hickey via the expansion draft.

"Kieran's made steady progress from day one," said Dawick. "He's now got two years of experience under his belt but he's been a solid contributor since stepping into the lineup for us. I believe his success has been overshadowed a bit by (Tom) Schreiber's success. Moving into year three, we're expecting Kieran to take big steps and make an increased impact on the left side."

The big shooting lefty has been a dominant player in the field game, lighting it up for the Florida Launch of Major League Lacrosse over his 5-year career. In his first MLL season he was named the league's rookie of the year after being selected 5th overall out of St. John's University. In his senior year of 2014, he led the Big East in all offensive categories with 36 goals, 49 assists and 85 points.

The Toronto Rock recently announced their 18-19 schedule. McArdle and his teammates will open the regular season and begin their march back to the playoffs on Sat., Dec. 1 in Vancouver at Rogers Arena. The Rock's home opener is set for Fri., Dec. 28 against Georgia at Scotiabank Arena.
