HOLMEN, Wis. — The Rochester A’s split a pair of road games in Wisconsin in American League baseball on Saturday.
The A’s opened with host Holmen and dropped a 4-2 contest. The A’s then responded with an 8-4 victory over Altoona to improve to 3-1 this season.
"Offense woke up during game two, but all of the runs were bunched together in the first two innings," A’s coach Vinnie Mannese said. "Pitching was very good all day."
In the loss to Holmen, the A’s committed three errors in the first two innings leading to three unearned runs.
The A’s were limited to three hits by a pair of Holmen pitchers. Sam Prisco and Riley Gora drove in runs for the A’s in their two-run sixth inning.

Andrew Miller pitched the first three innings and suffered the loss.
• The A’s responded in the second game with 13 hits and they scored five runs in the first inning and three more in the second.
Prisco, Andrew Swenson, Dalton Schuder and Alex Stromme all collected two hits for the A’s. Schuder hit a double, scored twice and drove in two runs while Swenson and Prisco also collected an RBI.
Luca Martini earned the win on the mound. He allowed two earned runs on two hits over four innings.
