SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV)   
The inaugural “Scranton Founder’s Day” will take place on Saturday April 28th at the new Trailhead Pavilion on West Olive Street in Scranton.
    The event is organized by Leadership Lackawanna– a professional development organization.
    The day will be filled with family-friendly activities that are both fun and educational.  On Wednesday morning Reporter Lauren Hensley spent some time with the group to talk about the upcoming event!


 
“The best part of the event is going to be the history.  All the lessons that you can learn of the city of Scranton” said Tara Priest-Rhodes, of Leadership Lackawanna
 
“It was also a very hard-working area. You have so many ethnic groups coming in here. And you have to remember they are working very hard in the mills and mines.  And that is a heritage many of us can be proud of” said Julie Esty, from The Windows”
Event activities will include historically relevant games, music, and re-enactors.


    It takes place rain or shine from noon until 4 Saturday, April 28

The Leadership Lackawanna Core Program Class of 2018 in conjunction with Lackawanna Heritage Valley is planning an Inaugural Scranton Founder’s Day for April 28, 2018. The event will occur at the Scranton Half Marathon Pavilion at Olive Street Trailhead from Noon to 4pm.

The four-hour event will be a walk through the history of Scranton, PA from its humble beginnings as Slocum Hollow to its triumphant growth into the Electric City.

The day will be filled with family-friendly activities that are both fun and educational. These will include historically relevant games, music, and re-enactors. Admission to the event will be free to the public. Food will be available for purchase from on-site vendors. The event will foster a sense of community pride and appreciation for the history of Scranton and the surrounding areas.
