Uber Driver Burglarized Homes of Passengers He Dropped Off at Airport

*Officers with the San Mateo, California police arrested Uber driver Jackie Gordon Wilson and charged him with residential burglary for reportedly returning to customers homes after dropping them off at the San Francisco Airport and ransacking the property.

Wilson is accused of committing 2 burglaries in the same neighborhood on April 4.

According to published reports, Ring surveillance footage caught Wilson in the act at an Airbnb rental on Rand Street in San Mateo. When the security alarm scared him off, he ended up a few houses down at a home located on the 1700 block of Nash Drive, where he reportedly robbed the place of several items.

“(He) torn apart the whole house, tossed everything. Every piece of furniture moved. He opened my safe,” explains Scott, who lives with his girlfriend in the house that was burglarized, per ABC 7 News.

Police used the security footage to identify and track down Wilson, who was eventually arrested at his home in Rancho Cordova, in Sacramento County, where detectives found some of the stolen items.

Wilson faces burglary and attempted burglary charges.

This latest PR nightmare for the Uber company comes after a 21-year-old college student was murdered by a man pretending to be an Uber driver.

Josephson, a student at the University of South Carolina, was reportedly intoxicated after partying all night at club when she thought she was getting into her Uber. Instead, the man pretending to be the driver, 24-year-old Nathaniel Rowland, allegedly stabbed her multiple times and dumped her body in a wooded area near his home in Columbia, according to police.
