Sparks are earned by watching streams on Mixer and can be spent in the chat of a Mixer Partner's channel. Where Embers will differ is that Sparks go towards achieving milestones to unlock cash bonuses while Embers will translate directly to cash. Viewers will also be able to purchase different premium skills with Embers as opposed to Sparks.Currently, Embers will set you back a minimum of $0.99 USD for 55 units and skills start at 50 embers a piece. They can also only be used on Mixer Partner channels at launch but there are plans to roll them out to more streamers in the future.
It doesn't seem clear yet exactly how much money partnered streamers will actually get from these Ember purchases. However, this will give viewers the opportunity to more directly tip streamers they like to watch, much like purchasing Cheers with Bits on Twitch.Hope Corrigan is an Australian freelance writer for IGN.
