Based on a gender equality decision by the IOC and they will also add two more weight classes for women.

Awful decision, women boxing sucks but I don't mind they adding new weight classes but doing at cost of men weight classes is an awful decision, there's already a good gap between classes so there's no single class were that wouldn't really affect the fighters besides 49kg.

Women boxing is horrible. I don't watch it. Amateur boxing is horrible too, so who cares.

It's disgusting. All these mentally disturbed PC cretins have got to go. By hook or by crook they absolutely have got to go. Even women don't want to watch women's boxing.

There's too many weight classes as is. Make more, and do it to the pros.. get rid of all the uneven weights.

    Weird.
I imagine they're going to get rid of Light Welterweight and Light Flyweight.

They should add the heavyweight class in female's boxing, but yeah removing 2 classes is stupid.

This is so stupid. There's too many in the pro game of course with 17, but 10 is just right. Two less than that will mean there will regularly be unfair and unsafe size mismatches.

There might as well be a full 10 in women's boxing. Weight classes are about fair competition, not about participation pool. And it can only help for the future of women's boxing. The quality of a lot of the qualifiying girls would be a joke, for now anyway, but if you don't like it don't watch it, there's much more ridiculous sports in the Olympics.

The i.O.C has done the same thing already with Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling, judo and weightlifting and those sports had less weight classes than boxing.

How can I complain about this and actually get something changed? That's awful that they are doing that. Women aren't as interested in boxing so it makes sense there will be less weight classes.

This means that on average each weight class will have a 1kg bigger gap. This could create mismatches/people cutting too much weight etc. I think we should be concerned about safety, not "WYMNZ PARTISIPATION"

They're a vile malignancy that needs to be removed from public discourse before their deranged ideas take root so deep that they'll be inoperable, unfortunately I think it may already be a terminal. We're ****ed as a society.

    What's wrong with amateur boxing?

In amateurs, everyone goes in with the mentality that that want to win cos it's always about proving yourself..

Nobody watches amateur boxing anymore, exept some old fellas.

Its all about the pros. Nowdays 99% of all succesfull amateur boxers turn to pro.
