Interesting Photo of the Day: The Truth Behind Rock Climber Photos

Look at this! There aren’t very many photographs of photographers photographing that are quite as impressive as what you see in this setup. I don’t know about you, but I’ve just figured out what I want to do when I grow up.  Adventure photographer Corey Rich is seen here capturing a shot of famous free solo climber Alex Honnold in Joshua Tree National Park:

This is obviously not a shot you’d attempt without some knowledge of climbing and climbing equipment. Though Honnold is free soloing (climbing without ropes or other equipment to hold him to the rock), Rich had to secure the ladder to the cliff face.

In talking about his work, Rich says,

“That’s what I’m always striving for–how do we show the world in a new way?”

He sure has some fantastic and inventive setup techniques for doing so. What was your latest awesome outdoor photography adventure? Tell us about it in the comments!
