Fresh from declaring war on jihadists following the Charlie Hebdo shootings, Anonymous is targeting international paedophile networks.

The hacktivist group has posted a call for anyone with "factual information" on "the scale of the paedosadist industry" to share it on social networks.

The group calls the grassroots campaign "Operation: Death Eaters", named after the followers of Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series.

It claims the objective of #OpDeathEaters is "to set up an independent, internationally linked, victim-led inquiry into all the areas which do not appear to have been investigated properly."

The campaign has so far name-dropped several prominent figures embroiled in underage sex scandals including convicted billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew - who has publicly denied that he had sex with an underage teenager.

As well as high-profle cases, Anonymous is focusing its efforts on sheer amount of child sex abuse material circulating online.

According to the European Commission's Global Alliance against Child Sexual Abuse Online, 50,000 new child abuse images are uploaded each year. And more than 70% of reported images feature children below 10 years of age.

Anonymous characterises Death Eaters as "members of a sociopathic society where the societal norms or culture are driven by sadism or sexual sadism disorder."

The group promises to form a database that will be hosted online and incorporate paedophile cases from all around the world.

It says the database will be added to and updated accordingly with sub-groups formed for the likes of police, politicians, religious organisations, schoolteachers and the media.

The overall goal of the campaign has been spelled out as a means to end worldwide trafficking.

"We call upon our comrades globally to help us investigate and demand an end to to the trafficking networks with arrests at the top not just the bottom," the group posted on microblogging platform Tumblr.

"We demand an end to human trafficking and abuse complicity worldwide."
