A woman from El Paso was killed in a head-on collision on I-20 over the weekend, her family says.

Kimberly Belinda Carrillo was on her way to Waco, Texas from El Paso when an 18-wheeler jackknifed after a tire blowout, causing it to cross into the median and into the eastbound lanes.

The family says Carrillo’s car was hit and dragged into a ditch. Her boyfriend saw that Carrillo was seriously injured and attempted CPR. A doctor who stopped to help also attempted to revive her but she was taken to a hospital in Abilene, Texas, where she was pronounced dead.

KFOX14 spoke to her daughter, Stephanie Carrillo, who said her mother was loved by everyone

Stephanie describes her mother as a person who brought the child out in everyone.

“She was all about Disney and Christmas and she lit up a room when she walked in,” Stephanie said. “She loved telling the same stories from when we were little. She’s a young soul. She was a fantastic grandmother to my kids.”

A GoFundMe account was set up for funeral expenses.
